A day in the life :
Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical equipment that is overhead, on poles with a height up to 110 feet or is underground. Equipment includes :
Traffic signal hardware.
Variable message signs.
Roadway video / camera systems.
Portable light plants and generators.
Extensions, modifications and repairs to branch circuits in and around all ODOT facilities.
Lighting fixtures, including on bridges (LED, HPS, Fluorescent, etc.).
Drawbridge controls and related circuitry.
Motor controls for shop equipment, including air compressors, overhead doors, fuel pumps, ventilation, rock crushers, storm water pumps and HVAC.
Participate in team development and train apprentice electricians.
Work outdoors on a year-round basis in all weather conditions, often in close proximity to heavy highway traffic.
Some work on structures of high elevation such as bridges, light towers and buildings.
Must be available to work any time, 24 / 7, including holidays and respond to emergencies.
Must be capable of lifting up to 70 pounds, bending, stooping and sitting in a vehicle for long periods.
This position requires the ability to distinguish colors.

The salary range listed is the non- monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, by 6.95%.

Minimum qualifications :
A General Journeyman Electrical license. Be sure a copy of your license is attached to your application form.
Special qualifications :
This position requires a maximum 45 minute response time to 9200 SE Lawnfield Rd., Clackamas 97015 for emergency call-outs.
You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license B (CDL-B) with a tanker endorsement, no air brake restrictions, no 5th wheel restrictions and no manual transmission restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire a class B within 60 days of hire.
A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.
As of Sept. 29, 2025, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has rescinded prior guidance that allowed state DMVs to issue limited term commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs). As a result, individuals who hold a lawful employment authorization document (EAD) are no longer eligible to obtain a commercial learner’s permit (CLP) or commercial driver’s license (CDL).
