Orange City Council lies in the Central West region of New South Wales, home to over 42,000 residents. The city is a regional hub for commerce, health, education and the arts, and a popular tourist destination, celebrated for its extraordinary food and wine, boutique shops, spectacular scenery, and rich history.
The Role
The Chief Executive Officer will support councilors, staff, and the community in developing and delivering a clear vision for a vibrant and sustainable Orange region. The role embeds a culture of continuous improvement, provides leadership, fosters local economic development and demonstrates commitment to the region, its people and its future. An understanding of local government challenges and financial sustainability is essential.
Functionally, the CEO exercises overall responsibility for council operations, supporting the development and implementation of the council’s Strategic Plan, policy development, oversight of financial management, and communication of policies and procedures to the community.
About You
As a highly regarded leader of people, you have a history of guiding organisations and communities through change, building proud cultures, and focusing on outcomes. You possess highly developed communication and advocacy skills, and the ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholder groups.
Knowledge of local government is ideal, as is an understanding of the changing social, political and economic issues facing the broader sector.
Orange City Council is on a path of growth; the CEO will play a pivotal role in its success.
