Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a TES Inpatient Vet Assistant to work in the Intermediate Care (IMC ), Intensive Care Unit (ICU ), and Emergency Room (ER) section of our Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital . The individual in this position will work directly with board-certified emergency and critical care veterinarians and rotating intern doctors to help facilitate qualify care and patient flow through theIMC ,ICU , and ER.
This position is primarily for overnights or second shift. The scheduled hours for this position can be flexible based on the selected candidate's availability with the potential option to work 8, 10, or 13 hour shifts based on preference. Preferred hours can be discussed during interview.

Essential Functions
Assists with administering treatments and monitoring patients admitted inIMC ,ICU , or ER observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food / water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian.
Performs and demonstrates veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine.
Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques includingCPR , mechanical ventilation and dialysis. Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals, environmental conditions, temperature, and sanitation.
Perform job duties with speed and accuracy and work as essential personnel, providing care for patients after hours, on weekends and holidays. Assists with emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service.
May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and / or similar tasks.
This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital / clinic environment
Degrees can me used in lieu of experience

Salary Range
Minimum of $15.00 / hour + shift differentials
Work Hours
Primarily overnights (between the hours of 7 : 00p.m. - 8 : 00a.m.) OR second shift (between the hours of 1 : 00p.m.- 2 : 00a.m.) with possibility of rotating shifts. Scheduled hours and shift lengths are flexible based on candidate's preference.

Special Instructions to Applicants
This position involves direct contact with animals susceptible to rabies. Employees in this role must complete a rabies pre-exposure vaccination series and maintain adequate rabies antibody titer (=0.5 IU / mL) as recommended byCDC guidelines.
Auburn University will cover the cost of the rabies vaccination series, periodic titer checks, and any necessary boosters.
