Purpose for the Position :

To provide security for the hotel’s property and guests through vigilance and attention to detail, prompt and thorough reporting, and appropriate contacts with police authorities.

Essential Responsibilities :

• Responsible for guest and property security.
• Responsible for monitoring property lobby and office area, hallways, stairways, public restrooms, parking lots, lawn, guest rooms and other assigned areas.
• Responsible for entering and maintaining proper entries in the security log.
• Responsible for reporting incidents to police authorities within specific guidelines set by the Hotel, or when emergency situations so dictate.
• Responsible for guest relations when called upon to assist a guest who may request assistance, directions or register a complaint. Also responsible for offering to help any guest who appears lost, overburdened, or in a difficult situation.
• Responsible for escorting guests and employees to their automobile when requested.
• Required to be in uniform at all times when working on the property, including wearing a name identification badge.
• Responsible for being aware of activities outside, but on hotel property, related to the bar area such as guest congregation in the parking lot, parking problems, or interpersonal incidents which must be reported and documented (disturbances, injuries, etc.).
• Responsible for assisting bartenders and servers with customers who become unruly, intoxicated, or otherwise ill-suited to remain guests.
• Responsible for achieving and maintaining a positive relationship with locally assigned police department officers.
• Responsible for achieving and maintaining knowledge of first aid procedures.
• Additional duties as assigned by Manager.

Physical Demands : Medium Work : Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally : activity or condition exists up to 1 / 3 of the time), and / or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (Frequently : activity or condition exists from 1 / 3 to 2 / 3 of the time), and / or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly (Constantly : activity or condition exists 2 / 3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Environmental Conditions : Outdoors. Subject to weather conditions, dust, and pollen.

Reasoning, Mathematical and Language Development are indicative of the general level of development required to do this job. Some, but not necessarily all, areas mentioned in this section will be included in this job.

Reasoning Development : Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

Mathematical Development : Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Compute ratio, rate, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.

Language Development : Reading : Recognize meaning of 2,500 [two- or three-syllable] words. Read at a rate of 95-120 words per minute. Compare similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Writing : Print simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and series of numbers, names, and addresses. Speaking : Speak simple sentences, using normal word order, and present and past tenses.

Specific Vocational Preparation :

Specific Vocational Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of : vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.

On-the-job experience as a security officer of at least six [6] months preferred.

To do this job, you must have the following licenses or certifications before being hired :

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation [CPR] certification.

To do this job, you must have the following amount of total education and / or experience : (If hiring someone into this position, this would be the minimum amount of experience and education that would be required in order for the incumbent to have a reasonable expectation for success.)

High School completion OR an equivalent level of education and experience.
