Job Title : Reliability Engineer

Location : Detroit, MI

Job Description :

Reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Superintendent, the Reliability Engineer will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heavy industrial equipment and processes. This role applies engineering principles to improve asset performance, develop and execute capital / expense projects, and support long-term plant reliability strategies. The successful candidate will combine strong electrical and mechanical knowledge with practical hands-on experience in industrial environments.

• Analyze demands for repair and improvements of site equipment, identifying solutions to recurring issues and implementing measures to prevent downtime.
• Develop strategies to optimize reliability of production / process equipment through data analysis, predictive maintenance, and proactive asset care.
• Provide technical oversight of contractors and vendors, ensuring work is performed safely and in compliance with all EHS requirements.
• Evaluate engineering proposals, specifications, and technical data to determine feasibility of new equipment designs or modifications.
• Utilize CAD and related engineering tools to support equipment and facility design improvements.
• Prepare and manage expense and capital projects, including scope development, estimating, contractor selection, and execution oversight.
• Provide technical guidance on manufacturing and processing methods, materials, and equipment capabilities.
• Conduct data analysis of equipment performance to identify reliability improvements and establish performance benchmarks.
• Support implementation of preventive and predictive maintenance programs (electrical / mechanical).
• Stay current on emerging technologies and industry best practices through ongoing study of engineering publications and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
