Purpose
Provide basic grounds maintenance services to keep up the health and appearance of the landscape at The University of Texas at Austin.
Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Experience following basic work instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, office staff, and university community. Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently. Demonstrates stable work history and work ethic. Experience with basic computer operations to complete data entry and / or electronic forms. Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs. Capable of working in all types of adverse conditions (environmental, weather, dust, loud noises, heights, fumes, smoke, air pollution, allergens, etc.). Class C driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days after entering the state. Candidate's motor vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 36 months must be clear. This includes all states resided in for past 36 months. Candidate must provide out-of-state MVR.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience in landscape maintenance work in a university, institutional, or commercial setting to include operating power mowers, cultivators, edgers, small sweepers, and other equipment used in gardening work plus the required qualifications.
Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
Salary Range
37,440 + depending on qualifications

Monday-Friday, 6 : 00 am-2 : 30 pm

Employment Eligibility :
Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. Staff who are promotion / transfer eligible may apply for positions without supervisor approval.
Retirement Plan Eligibility :
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
