Position Summary
The Clinical Information Librarian enhances health sciences education, research, and patient care at the University of Georgia School of Medicine (UGA SOM). This full-time, non-tenure track faculty role focuses on sustaining the medical education mission through planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of quality health information and instruction. The librarian supports faculty, residents, and students in finding and evaluating evidence-based information for clinical decision-making, research, and professional development. The position is part of the residency training team with partnering hospitals and the UGA SOM library team and supports medical student learning in clinical settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate educational programs, scholarship, teaching, and learning for Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Undergraduate Medical Education (UME).
- Allocate time equally between GME and UME responsibilities.
- Provide information services for the UGA SOM in GME and UME contexts.
- Serve as a faculty instructor for academic half days, teaching evidence-based information topics.
- Participate in clinical rounds and reports with faculty, residents, and students; locate evidence-based information at the point of care.
- Assist faculty and residents in preparing evidence for clinical review sessions (e.g., morbidity and mortality, journal clubs, seminars).
- Equip faculty, residents, and medical students to locate and organize information for patient care and scholarly activities.
- Collaborate with the UGA SOM library team to address teaching, research, and learning information needs.
- Support scholarly activities including grant and manuscript submissions and research consultations.
- Navigate technology needs (mobile apps, online health information platforms) and provide reference consultations in person and remotely.
- Participate in working groups, campus programs, committees, and professional associations as appropriate.
- Maintain flexibility and assume other duties as assigned.
