Position summary :
We build communities and care about what we do and how we do it. We want you to care about what you do too. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Controller to lead the financial operations of Meriam Park, and soon to add the Barber Yard project. This role encompasses oversight of the community's development and the diverse portfolio of businesses within, including retail, food and beverage, health and wellness, commercial and residential sectors. Under the oversight of the CFO, the Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, strategic planning, and sustainable growth across all entities. Duties :
Assist CFO with GL / Property Insurance for all properties and companies
Ensure timely and accurate reporting for P / L and balance sheets
GL management for multiple companies
Prepare FS for all entities- construction reporting, property management reporting, restaurant reporting
Develop and maintain a clear understanding of real estate and asset management
Oversee lease collection and payment of vendors
Work with outside CPA firms for tax reporting
Assist CFO with cash flow management
Job costing reported timely
Personal / Property tax reporting
Ensure timely filing of state and federal reports, such as EOC, BLS , EDD, etc.
Sales Tax reporting
Ensure proper tracking of daily sales, tips, and tax filings as it relates to restaurants
Manage payroll reporting for 5 companies
o Review Accuracy of input
o Prepare input for GL for each
o Deposit 401k and HSA funds
o Ensure all proper deductions / garnishments taken
401K Trust fund management and audits
Assist in market shop for benefits and management of elections.
Manage workers compensation reporting and audits
Oversee employee credit cards and policies in regards to spending and reimbursement
Leadership :

Lead a team of 4 in all aspects of accounting.
Be able to coach, mentor, and foster a team mentality.
Possesses strong interpersonal skills for working with executive management, owners, co-workers, and all our contractors and external auditors.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with CPA preferred.
MBA in Finance or accounting is a plus
7-10+ years of progressive accounting / finance experience
5+ years in senior-level roles (Controller, Director of Finance, or CFO)
Experience in overseeing multi-entity or multi-location business
Background in property management, and construction, and / or hospitality is a plus.
Strong understanding of GAAP, IRS, and tax regulations
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports.
Strong mathematical reasoning and ability to apply it to your daily tasks
Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, and accounting software.
Experience with family-owned companies a plus, especially as it pertains to balancing the needs of the company and that of the owner from a tax standpoint. Must have the highest degree of trust and confidentiality.
Experience in QuickBooks, ADP, Appfolio, and Toast is a plus

Communication skills : Give clear communication through all channels such as emails, calls, teams. Be sure to relay key information such as safety issues, project / event progress delays, and provide clear reporting when requested.
Physical Work Environment
This position requires the ability to work indoors. This position is not a remote position.
Work in a fast-paced environment
Long days on occasion during heavy development periods of financial submittal cycles.
You must be able to look at a computer for long periods of time.
