Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing duties required in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrate mastery and continue duties of Apprentice 1, 2, 3 and 4Construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipmentInspect existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipmentCorrect and / or report problems and observed hazardsMaintain and operate vehicles and equipmentInvestigate trouble on lines and locate cause of power outagesMaintain and service, including cleaning and repairing, all tools and equipmentPerform rubber glove work on energized lines from aerial deviceWork on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, both from the pole or an aerial deviceParticipate in and successfully complete scheduled trainingAssist in the training of othersDemonstrate diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulationsCollect delinquent accountsMust be available for and participate in Call-Out dutyMust be available to work various shiftsResponsible for construction and maintenance of overhead and underground linesMaintain construction standards and acceptable specificationsLead and / or monitor job briefings and tail board meetingsApprove purchasing invoices, work orders and focus on efficiency and cost controlsMaintain a safe and reliable system for members and the general publicMaintain and promote a safe work environment for employeesManage construction project completionParticipate in emergency restoration and call-out dutyUpdate the UC mapping systemParticipate in the process for damage claimsResolve customer complaints and answer customers' questionsProvide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving escalated complaints or disputesImplement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with managementDiscuss job performance problems with supervisor to identify causes and issues and work to resolve problemsTeach and instruct employees in job duties and company policies Instruct and supervise subordinates in the absence of the Construction / Service SupervisorInterpret and communicate work procedures and company policies to staffDevelop and review operating proceduresEstablish work priorities and activitiesCoordinate activities with other departmentsConduct and participate in safety meetingsStay abreast of advances in technologyDemonstrate regular and prompt attendancePerforms other related duties as necessary or assignedSupervisory and / or Leadership Responsibilities
