Job Category Underwriting Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
Salary Range $149,600.00 - $246,800.00 Target Openings 1 What Is the Opportunity? Join a growing E&S underwriting business at Northfield as we expand our brokerage underwriting capabilities, including our E&S Primary Casualty book.
Northfield Excess & Surplus (E&S) Brokerage offers a wide array of insurance products dedicated to wholesale broker distribution. The Northfield E&S Primary Casualty Managing Director (MD) leads an underwriting vertical of brokerage E&S underwriters who partner with wholesale brokers to provide primary general liability coverage.
This role will be responsible for leading the new business team and expanding our current appetite for primary casualty risks, including products liability, premises liability (habitational, LRO, etc.), special events, and hundreds of other classes.
As an MD, you are strategic, decisive, detail-oriented, and know how to build relationships internally and externally to drive results. Your ability to lead others in independently assessing complex risks and selling our products in challenging markets will contribute to the profitability and success of Northfield E&S and Travelers. What Will You Do?
- Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of the brokerage primary casualty book.
- Partner to develop and implement business strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives.
- Effectively manage local strategies, objectives and tactics concerning relationships with brokers and agencies.
- Underwrite and skillfully negotiate the most complex, at-risk, or hard-to-close deals.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales strategies and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Regularly meet in person with agents and brokers and have the ability to travel to these meetings.
- Provide strategic direction and support for team and take responsibility for coaching, training, and performance management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
