Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to support our Armament Systems Business site located in Plymouth, MN.

Position Summary :

This position is for an Electrical Engineer with a broad background and wide interests whose expertise can be applied to the development of cutting-edge military programs. Responsibilities include :

• Leads electrical design projects of significant complexity.
• Performs research, design, and development in such areas as power conditioning electronics, analog circuit design, digital circuit design, FPGA / ASIC design and verification, and other general electrical engineering design functions.
• Applies research to the planning, design, development, simulation and testing of electrical circuits for use in military applications.
• Generates design schematics preferably with experience using CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics.
• Develops specifications for and performs selection of components for use in electrical circuits for military applications.
• Utilizes electrical CAD tools such as Mentor System Vision, Power Intent, Hyperlynx, LTspice and others for circuit performance prediction in aid of circuit development.
• Oversees board layout to create PWB designs and provides pertinent design factors for first pass success on circuit realization.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to organize and prioritize job assignments and tasks.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a product development team to understand system level interdependencies that impact circuit requirements and design constraints.
• An active learner of new design techniques and technologies.
• Preferably an understanding of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) disciplines; including design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA / DFM).

Salary Range : $105,400.00 - $158,000.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
