Direct message the job poster from AutoNation We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Public Relations Manager to elevate our corporate brand reputation, strengthen executive visibility, and align our internal values with compelling external messaging. This role will serve as the primary liaison with our PR agency, coordinating proactive media efforts, issue management, and storytelling initiatives that reflect the company’s purpose and DRIVE behaviors. As the lead for our external communications efforts, you will work closely with internal communications, corporate affairs, and senior leaders to ensure a cohesive voice across all channels. Key Responsibilities : Agency & Media Relations Act as the day-to-day point of contact for the company’s PR agency, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and messaging Develop and review press materials, media lists, and briefing documents Pitch and coordinate earned media opportunities aligned with business priorities and campaign themes Lead media readiness planning and support for executive spokespeople Executive Visibility Create and execute visibility plans for senior leaders including media interviews, award nominations, and speaking opportunities Issues & Crisis Communications Partner with Legal, HR, and Operations to prepare reactive statements and response plans for potential reputational risks Maintain and update a Crisis Communications Playbook; conduct scenario-based training annually Campaign & Content Support Monitor trends and news cycles to identify proactive storytelling opportunities that reflect brand purpose Supervise and develop the Public Relations Specialist, providing growth opportunities and mentorship Foster cross-functional collaboration with internal communications, marketing, HR, and corporate affairs teams .Required Qualification Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field 5-7 years of experience in PR, corporate communications, or media strategy (agency and in-house experience preferred) Proven success in managing PR agencies and building strong media relationships Experience working with executives on visibility and positioning Strong understanding of issue / crisis communications best practice Excellent writing, editing, and strategic thinking skills Preferred Qualifications Automotive, retail, or Fortune 500 experience Working knowledge of ESG, philanthropy, or CSR communications Familiarity with internal comms strategy and cultural alignment initiative Strategic Planning & Execution Relationship Management (Media, Executives, Agency) Situational Awareness & Crisis Preparednes Cross-functional Collaboration Measurement and ROI-focused Reporting Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Public Relations Industries Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at AutoNation by 2x Inferred from the description for this job Medical insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Get notified about new Public Relations Manager jobs in Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area .
