Job Posting
You will conduct continuous surveillance of work involving radiological controls and radioactive materials to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and sound radiological control concepts.
You will identify, correct, and document deficient conditions or work practices to prevent elevated radiological impact.
You will provide on-the-job mentoring and arrange training for junior radiological control technicians.
You will plan and coordinate work with other branches within the code and production to ensure proper radiological coverage in all assigned areas and to evaluate job priorities and procedures to be used where overlap occurs.
You will develop input on radiological control requirements to be used during radiological work, assuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
You will investigate problems and questions affecting project operations and negotiates necessary changes, for example, conditions that must be met before plans can be put into effect.
You will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring work is performed in a manner such that occupational exposures and environmental impacts are minimized.

This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and / or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and / or unusual duty hours may be required.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following :
- Experience in the use of a full range of radiological control instrumentation and survey techniques in use within the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program to include preparing comprehensive technical reports;
- Experience applying all necessary requirements to provide on-scene radiological control responses for actual or potential radiological emergencies, casualties, training exercises, and proficiency drills on or off site;
- Experience completing causal analysis of radiological incidents and unusual events to provide problem resolution;
- Experience preventing and controlling radiological incidents and unusual events during complex operations.
