Design and analyze key components : shafts, housings, bearings, dynamic seals, turbine blades, and stators. Select advanced materials and coatings for long-term marine deployment. Collaborate across electromagnetics, controls, fluid dynamics, and marine operations teams. Drive manufacturability, offshore assembly, and serviceability in design. Lead and participate in design reviews with internal teams and external vendors. Oversee documentation, drawings, and tolerance analysis. Mentor technicians and guide prototyping, fabrication, and testing. Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and iterate designs. Utilize high-end CAD (NX), PDM (Teamcenter), and FEA tools. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related. Extensive experience with rotating machinery (pumps, turbines, compressors, turbochargers, etc.). 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience. Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and FEA. Hands-on experience assembling tight-tolerance rotating equipment. Proven ability to manage projects from concept through test and deployment. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Advanced degree or additional 5 years of experience. Prior leadership of engineering teams. Background in marine / offshore machinery design. Experience with subsea bearings, hydrodynamic / hydrostatic bearings, or piping systems. Familiarity with rapid prototyping and instrumentation / controls. NX / Teamcenter, NASTRAN, FEMAP, or similar analysis software.

They are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of the turbogenerator within their core technology. This is a hands-on position where you'll guide the technical vision while also prototyping, testing, and problem-solving alongside a world-class team.

The role is located in Portland, OR. The company is open to a great remote candidate as well!
