Job Description
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
Preferred Qualifications
Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems, server hardware, and related software and applications.
Monitoring system performance, applying software updates and security patches, and managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues to ensure the continuous operation of systems, often requiring on-call availability for emergencies.
Implementing and enforcing security best practices, managing firewalls, and developing safeguards to protect systems and data from breaches.
Designing and implementing backup solutions, managing data storage, and developing and executing disaster recovery plans.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience. Master's Degree and 4 years of experience. 4 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
