TITLE : Infrastructure Telecommunications Specialist

STATUS : Full-Time, Non-Exempt

PAY RATE : $28 per hour

THE SALVATION ARMY MISSION :

MAJOR FUNCTION :

Responsible for coordinating Internet Service Providers (ISP) and telco installs and disconnects throughout the territory. This includes scheduling with local site contacts, ISPs, and Network / Voice team for installation of plain old telephone system (POTS) lines, as well as cable, satellite and cellular Internet.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Telecom Coordination and Scheduling (50%)

  • Coordinate and schedule new service and / or upgrade service for ISP needs for local units, including both Network / Voice and Support teams when applicable, and adding to Infrastructure Calander as needed.
  • Verify accounting information for each new service with Divisional Finance and automated collection through Telephone Expense Management (TEM) system.
  • Process disconnects with Telco / ISP’s when a new service is installed, tested, and operational.
  • Schedule low voltage contractors for customer side service for ISP / Voice or Network extension.
  • Update telecom project installation checklist as projects progress.
  • Respond to outages and initiate services with Network / Voice and / or Support teams and the affected site.

Telecom Review (25%)

  • Review monthly billing reports from TEM for anomalies or service changes.
  • Review carrier specific reports regularly for overages.
  • Review TEM for contract renewal dates and / or new services or savings.

    • Telecom Database Updates and Reporting (25%)

  • Update Telecom Database for all adds / moves / changes.
  • Run reports as requested for service or sites for review.
  • Provide updates to project tasks and checklists.
  • Close out new or replacement service records and transfer data from project system to SharePoint site.

    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Knowledge of ISP and Telecom services and terminology.
  • Ability to learn new software applications and systems.
  • Knowledge of internal Salvation Army procedures as they relate to business processes.
  • Ability to set tasks and priorities to address operation needs of the position.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure.

    • EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Two years of college in a business or communication related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in Telecom or Managing Telecom and ISPs and / or low voltage subcontractors.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.
  • Ability to travel within the Territory.
