Bachelor’s degree in Police Science, Business Administration, Risk Management, Administration of Justice, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Security Management, or Administration, or closely related field is required. Two years’ experience in a closely related field can be substituted for each year of education on a year-for-year basis, for up to two years of college or courses. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Two years’ experience in a closely related field can be substituted for each year of education. Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in school security, law enforcement, risk management, private security, or school administration, with an emphasis on managerial and training functions. Experience with oversight, or management of risk management programs, workers’ compensation, general liability claims management, insurance procurement and policies is desirable. Possession of a current First Aid and CPR card. First Aid / CPR Card must be obtained from an authorized American Heart Association (AHA) training center ( American Red Cross, NSC, AHA, or third party). Cards obtained through an online course will not be accepted. Must currently possess or complete SB 1626 within thirty (30) days after employment. Completion of Peace Officer Standards and Training (Penal Code 832) is required within ninety (90) days after employment.
Employment eligibility that may include fingerprints, health (TB), and / or other employment clearance. Must have valid California driver’s license and automobile available for use. Must be willing to attend evening, night, and weekend meetings. Must have ability to obtain and maintain insurability status under the District’s vehicle insurance policy. Must be willing to drive to various District locations to conduct work. Must attach a Driver Record Request from the Department of Motor Vehicles dated no earlier than six (6) months before the posted recruitment period. Only DMV online / DMV official printout is acceptable. Printout from insurance companies or other source is not acceptable. Printout can be obtained using the link provided on EdJoin, "CA DMV Record Request". The document must include the word “end” on the final page to indicate the complete document has been submitted. All application materials for each applicant will be evaluated by a screening committee. A combination of written, oral, and performance tests may be administered to secure the best qualified applicants. Those who are deemed best qualified will be scheduled for an interview. Paper, e-mailed, or faxed applications and required attachments will not be accepted. The letters of recommendation must be current, dated within the last 12 months.
