Position Overview

A pioneering manufacturer specializing in high-tech modular fabrication for the defense, energy, and aerospace industries is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily operations at their cutting-edge production facility. Key Responsibilities

Direct daily operations of a sophisticated manufacturing facility focused on modular fabrication, overseeing production lines that produce specialized components for defense, energy, and aerospace applications.

Lead a team of production supervisors and technicians, fostering a hands-on, problem-solving culture to meet stringent quality and delivery timelines.

Optimize operational performance by analyzing and improving key metrics such as cycle time, defect rates, equipment uptime, and resource utilization.

Drive Lean manufacturing initiatives, leveraging techniques like Kanban, value stream mapping, and just-in-time production to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.

Ensure compliance with rigorous safety standards (e.g., OSHA) and industry-specific regulations, maintaining a zero-incident workplace.

Partner with engineering and quality teams to integrate advanced fabrication technologies and troubleshoot production challenges in real time.

Manage budgeting and cost control for labor, materials, and equipment, ensuring alignment with production goals and financial targets.

Spearhead workforce planning and development, including hands-on training for operating specialized machinery and adopting new process innovations.

Oversee inventory and material flow, coordinating with supply chain teams to prevent bottlenecks in a high-stakes production environment.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

At least 5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably with exposure to precision fabrication or assembly for defense, energy, or aerospace sectors.

Deep knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process optimization tools.

Proficiency with ERP / MRP systems to manage production planning, inventory, and resource allocation.

Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.

Strong analytical skills to diagnose operational issues and implement effective solutions quickly.

Qualifications

Lean / Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).

Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and audit readiness.

Working Conditions

Full-time, on-site position in a high-energy manufacturing plant with advanced automation and precision equipment.

May require occasional evening or weekend shifts to support production surges or critical deadlines.
