Puku Cultural Community Services (Puku) is seeking a Program Coordinator (PC) for the Tutint Indigenous Youth Programs geared to uplift Native American and Indigenous Youth by providing academic support, promoting holistic wellness, culture and community connections . In this role the PC will plan, direct and / or coordinate the activities of the Tutint Program including oversight of recruitment / retention, enrollment, case management, data collection / evaluation, budget management, outcomes and reporting. This position is headquartered at a local park and requires some local travel, adhering to a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends. The PC serves as a role model to youth and a driven Tutint Team.
About Puku Cultural Community Services Program :
TUTINT : Tarahat Uplifting Trauma-Informed & Community-led Interventions for Native Teens, is an Indigenous youth department operating the Tutint Youth Empowerment (TYE) Program and Tutint Power Fellowship. TYE is a youth development program offering activities and services in San Fernando for youth between the ages of 12-17 years old. Tutint was created with three main goals : 1) increase cultural competency, 2) reduce risk, and 3) improve academic success. Tutint provides a continuum of direct and indirect services to each individual child, family, and community. These services include academic / education, mental health, behavioral health, and mentoring on a weekly basis with occasional weekend outings. TPF operates from the same medicine wheel framework but focuses on building the advocacy power of youth.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES : The Program Coordinator will work closely under the direction of the Operations Manager in the implementation of these key areas :
1. Workplans and Reporting
Program Coordinator (PC) coordinates to continuously improve office culture, programming, events, policies and procedures with culturally relevant, trauma informed, and evidence-based practices.
Represents Tutint / Puku at programs and functions to coordinate and network activities with other Tribal, non-profit, and government agencies.
Manages all department staff including schedules for programs which are conducted during day, evening and weekend hours.
Fiscal responsibilities include ordering of program supplies, expense requests and budget oversight of various grants.
Work with various grants to expend and request funds appropriately and submit reports to funders.
2. Case Management and Records
Oversees the timely and thorough intake and follow-up meetings with community, such as foster youth, children from families with low-income, and families whose language may act as a barrier to accessing community resources and services.
Reviews, processes, maintains, and secures on-site case management data such as intake forms, case files, and current case notes in digital database.
Coordinates case management sessions with youth participants.
3. Data and Evaluation
Conducts revisions to completed program intake and evaluation forms.
Responsible for coordinating Program Evaluator (PE) to research, develop, deliver, and collect evidence-based data from community.
Oversee the maintenance of confidential records, data, and submits reports.
4. Programming
Plans Trauma-Informed, data-driven workshops, and / or cultural wellness workshops and activities based upon Pukuus internal processes.
Engages youth and community with trauma-informed, culturally-relevant, and data-driven workshops and activities.
5. Outreach, recruitment and retention
Represent Pukuus vision, work, and values in meetings with other organizations and agencies, as appropriate.
Develop and deploy outreach and engagement strategies for Pukuu projects and programs that amplify Tribal / Indigenous community perspectives.
Coordinates and collaborates for the development of publicity materials for various events and design, create, remediate, and upload content on program website.
Responsible for reporting abuse, as a mandated reporter which includes immediately reporting any concerns with respect to violation of a person's rights, actual and / or suspected abuse.
Other duties as directed

Strong commitment to Pukus vision and mission and Tutints objectives.
Bachelor's Degree in social work, social sciences, public health, education, American Indian Studies, or related field.
Three to five years experience working with youth.
Three to five years managing programs.
Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of a youth and family program.
Excellent work ethic : time management, organized, punctual, good judgment, and interpersonal skills.
Precisely follows directions and uses good judgment when clear direction is unavailable.
Available and willing to travel, as needed.
Must have a valid California Drivers License, personal transportation, and be insurable to drive vehicles.
DESIRED QUAIFICATIONS
Experience working with a Native American organization, community group, or Tribe, especially Native and Indigenous youth.
Three to four years managing or supervising a team.
Experience with grant management, compliance and reporting.
Outdoor recreational leadership skills that include hiking, swimming, camping in group setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT : Duties are performed primarily in the office, but also in the field. Travel is required to various locations in the region for meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, and site visits. Weekly evening programming and monthly weekend events will be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Possible fieldwork may be required and subject to the environmental conditions of the season.
Ability to work in a standard office setting, with considerable sitting and viewing of monitor.
Requires reaching continually throughout the workday (mouse, keyboard, and telephone).
May include lifting thirty pounds on an infrequent basis. Proper lifting techniques are required.
Must use a personal cell phone for communications with supervisors and colleagues.

This position develops, maintains, and is responsible for safeguarding the computer / electronic and hardcopy file folders containing sensitive and proprietary information about Pukuu and its clients. If hired, the applicant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The applicant must maintain confidentiality of all work and files pertaining to enrollment, clients, survey results, and all other material that may identify individuals by name (either directly or by reference), as set forth by Pukuu and applicable laws. Any violation in this matter may result in immediate termination of employment.
