Are you a seasoned accounting professional ready to take the next step in your leadership career? A growing, well-established manufacturing company in Lubbock, TX is seeking a Controller to oversee all financial and reporting operations. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic leadership team and help drive financial performance, system improvements, and long-term strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities - Controller

Financial Strategy & Oversight

  • Lead and maintain the company's financial systems, reporting, and controls.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.
  • Create and manage operational reporting, budgeting, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support business growth.

    • Accounting & Compliance

  • Oversee general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal corporate policies.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms for audits and annual tax return preparation.

    • Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and develop a small team of accounting staff.
  • Act as a strategic financial advisor to senior leadership and department heads.
  • Support and enhance ERP and HRIS systems (SAP Business ByDesign experience is a plus).
  • Facilitate communication across departments to ensure aligned financial planning.

    • Process Improvement & Controls

  • Evaluate current accounting procedures and implement enhancements.
  • Develop KPIs to measure and report on performance across departments.
  • Monitor intercompany transactions, cost allocations, and incentive programs.

    • Qualifications - What They're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's degree or CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and cost accounting
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; ERP system experience required (SAP a plus)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach

    • Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Primarily office-based work with standard equipment use
  • Some exposure to plant and warehouse environments, including dust and temperature fluctuations
  • May require occasional lifting of items up to 56 pounds
