Signature Aviation is seeking a collaborative and strategic Systems Manager to lead the operations, optimization, and governance of our systems infrastructure, reporting to the Director of Infrastructure. This critical role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of our core platforms and services, including database administration, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 products, collaboration tools, and hosting of enterprise applications. As a hands-on leader with at least 3 years of experience leading teams, you will guide a high-performing team of administrators and engineers, work closely with other managers and directors within the IT infrastructure team, and step in for technical tasks when needed. This high-impact leadership role shapes the stability and scalability of our infrastructure, driving the success of our IT operations.
As Systems Manager, you will be a key leader within the IT infrastructure team, driving system reliability, security, and scalability. By building a high-performing team, collaborating with other IT managers and directors, and engaging hands-on when needed, you will ensure our infrastructure supports Signature’s goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Systems Architecture
Drive the strategic direction of our server platforms and systems, aligning with the goals of the overall IT infrastructure team.
- Develop, communicate, document, and enforce standards, policies, and procedures for systems and database operations.
- Collaborate with other IT infrastructure managers and directors (., Network Manager, Security Manager, Cloud Manager) to ensure cohesive architecture and seamless integration across systems.
- Lead modernization efforts for legacy systems, incorporating emerging technologies to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
Systems & Database Oversight
Oversee the monitoring, performance, availability, and security of enterprise systems, including Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Citrix, Exchange, Power Platforms (MS Fabric), Oracle, SQL Server, and SSO integrations.
Manage SSL / TLS certificate lifecycles, ensuring secure communication and compliance through effective Certificate Authority (CA) management.Ensure timely server patching, system upgrades, and lifecycle management across Windows and Azure server environments.Optimize collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, and Power Apps, and administer secure file transfer platforms.Lead database administration for Oracle and SQL Server, including performance tuning, backup / recovery, and coordination with vendors.Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor a team of systems and database engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture through coaching, skill development, and performance feedback (minimum 3 years of team leadership experience required).
Act as a hands-on leader, stepping in to troubleshoot complex issues or support critical tasks when needed to ensure operational continuity.Partner with other IT infrastructure managers and directors to align efforts, share insights, and drive unified strategies for system reliability and performance.Promote cross-functional collaboration within the IT infrastructure team to ensure seamless integration of systems and services.Governance, Risk & Compliance
Establish governance frameworks to maintain secure and compliant systems and database operations.
Participate in regular risk assessments, remediation, audits, and compliance reviews to meet internal and external standards.Enforce access controls, data protection policies, and change management processes to minimize risks.Maintain clear documentation to support transparency and alignment with IT infrastructure team standards.Emerging Technologies & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to enhance system performance, automation, and security.
Drive infrastructure automation, proactive monitoring, and maintenance to optimize operations.Continuously assess systems architecture for scalability and efficiency, ensuring readiness for future IT infrastructure needs.Minimum Education and / or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience in systems administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing technical teams.Additional knowledge and skills
Proven expertise in Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Teams, SharePoint), Citrix, Azure, and enterprise databases (Oracle, SQL Server).Strong knowledge of SSO, SSL / TLS management, patching strategies, and hybrid cloud environments.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other IT infrastructure managers and directors.Microsoft Certified : Azure Administrator Associate
