POSITION DETAILS
The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals for part-time positions in assisting students individually or in groups with team sports, physical fitness activities and games in a school-site physical education program during school hours. This career opportunity is fewer than 20 hours per week, 9.5-months / year with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation. Part-time positions at school sites assisting the P.E. teacher require availability three days / week during school hours between 7 : 30 a.m.-4 : 30 p.m. Hours and days may vary depending on the needs of the school site. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education : Graduation from high school equivalent. Applicants must also show sufficiency in educational requirements by meeting one of the following requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), formerly known as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) :
- Possession of two years of higher education (i.e., 48 units or more); Or
- Possession of an Associates Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited as recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation; Or
- Possession of proof that indicates you have passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST); Or
- Obtain a passing score on the Fullerton School District Preliminary Instructional Assistant Proficiency Assessment AND All Instructional Assistant candidates must take and obtain a passing score on the Fullerton School District Instructional Assistant Proficiency AssessmentExperience : Recent experience in working with children or youth groups, and instruction in a physical fitness and recreation environment. This position either assists the P.E teacher during instruction / school hours or in an after school environment (i.e., after school program)
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This will be a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. Applications will be accepted from all qualified individuals. The examination may consist of written, performance and oral examinations. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The resulting eligibility list will be used up to six months to fill vacancies. Date of ExaminationThe date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified by email, writing, and / or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
